A memory that has left the live set but still exists.
A memory goes cold for one of three reasons. pressure: the store was over capacity and its origin was the least useful. superseded: a newer memory replaced it. expired: its expiry passed. Superseded and expired memories never answer a recall. A memory that pressure pushed out still answers, comes back live, and gains the maximum reinforcement.
